How to Register for ISAT 2026
Registering for the ISAT is a straightforward process, but it is important to keep track of the test windows, deadlines, and technical requirements. Missing a deadline or making an error during registration can delay your test by months. This guide walks you through every step.
Step 1: Create an ACER Account
The ISAT is administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Your first step is to visit the official ACER ISAT website and create an account. You will need to provide:
- Your full legal name (this must match your government-issued photo ID exactly)
- A valid email address (all correspondence about your test will be sent here)
- Your date of birth
- Your country of residence and citizenship
Double-check every detail before submitting. If your name on your ACER profile does not match your ID, you may be turned away on test day.
Step 2: Select a Test Window
The ISAT is offered four times per year during designated testing windows. For 2026, the test windows are:
- Window 1: 19 - 30 January 2026
- Window 2: 27 April - 8 May 2026
- Window 3: 27 July - 7 August 2026
- Window 4: 26 October - 6 November 2026
Choose your test window based on your university application deadlines. Results are typically released a few weeks after each testing window closes, so leave enough time for your scores to reach the university before their deadline.
Step 3: Pay the Registration Fee
The registration fee for the ISAT is currently AUD $435. Payment is made online during the registration process. ACER accepts major credit and debit cards. Keep your payment confirmation as proof of registration.
Note that the registration fee is generally non-refundable. If you need to reschedule your test within the same window, contact ACER as early as possible. Rescheduling across test windows is usually not permitted and may require a new registration and payment.
Step 4: Schedule Your Session with ProctorU
The ISAT is a remote-proctored exam, meaning you take it from your own computer with a live proctor supervising you through ProctorU. After completing your ACER registration, you will need to:
- Create a ProctorU account (or log in if you already have one).
- Search for the ISAT exam within the ProctorU platform.
- Select a specific date and time within your chosen test window.
- Confirm your booking.
Popular time slots fill up quickly, especially towards the end of each test window. Register and schedule your ProctorU session as early as possible to secure your preferred date and time.
Step 5: Prepare Your Testing Environment
Before test day, make sure your setup meets the technical requirements:
- Computer: A desktop or laptop with a working webcam and microphone. Tablets and phones are not supported.
- Internet: A stable, high-speed connection. A wired ethernet connection is recommended over WiFi.
- Browser: ProctorU may require a specific browser or extension. Check their system requirements and run the compatibility test well in advance.
- Room: A quiet, private, well-lit space. Remove any books, notes, phones, extra monitors, and other prohibited items from your desk area.
Run the ProctorU system check at least one week before your test. Discovering a technical issue on test day could result in missing your scheduled session.
Important Reminders
- You can only sit the ISAT once every 12 months. Plan your test date carefully.
- ISAT scores are valid for two years from the test date.
- Have your government-issued photo ID ready on test day. The name must match your ACER registration.
- Log into ProctorU at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to complete the check-in process.
